TWWBV: RIDE

started making noise in Tallahassee, FL, rising from the ashes of two bands, The Cold After and Mira. The Cold After played their final show in August of 2004, with Wendy Wallace (vocal), Maria Rushing (bass), and Scott Sweeney (guitars) vowing to continue on. Alan Donaldson, drummer for Mira, had been sitting in with The Cold After while his own band was wrapping up production on their third CD for Project . . . which would prove to be the band’s last. After a brief audition period, the group added guitarist Colin Dwyer, and the lineup was complete.

TWWBV, at times, bear a striking resemblance to their previous bands. But the catchy pop hooks of The Cold After have been sharpened, replacing the dark washes of keyboards with a more direct guitar sound. And the omnipresent experimentalism of Mira has been tamed to create immediate, yet engaging, post-pop masterpieces.
